OK, imagine a '?' after each of the statements in the poll and tick the one that most reflects your view.
I can manage that part. Is the poll about Kenneth Lee Boyd or the death penalty in general?
Oh,I see what you mean.Well as I said, this particular execution, being the 1000th since re-introduction,has sparked off the whole debate in the UK.Also, the Australian hanged in Singapore and the fact that one of our Woman Police Constables was shot dead a week ago has brought the issue back to the chattering classes with a vengence.
So to answer your question,it's about the death penalty in general.

RE: Death penalty

Not that I believe this, but I once saw a Harley rider with a patch on the back of his jacket (below the obligatory HD one, that is):

"Kill 'em all, let God sort it out"

I don't think he intended that to mean only those convicted of crime, but it was funny to me anyway, at least in the abstract.

RE: Death penalty

Gotcha! In general, I would have to go with a resounding no to the death penalty for a single reason. If society wishes to improve its lot (something we should all strive for), we need to lead by example. We cannot cry foul at the killing of a human being, then do the same as if to add an exclamation point. Violence begets violence.

I am not against the Death Penalty, but I think the standard should be irrefutable proof of guilt. DNA, video, anything that is irrefutable proof of the act. Too many of these guys are getting wacked on witness testimony or circumstantial evidence alone. Those who are convicted at that level of evidence should be given life without parole, to leave open the off-chance that evidence might surface proving their innocence.
I used to be ardently in favor of the death penalty until some seemingly concrete convictions were over turned by the advent of DNA evidence. I cannot stomach the thought that some fellow citizens may have been exterminated while innocent.

I'm with you though, KV. Some standard of irrefutability could convince me of the value of the D.P. again
