RE: Bush flat out lies in speech on Iraq
This is all unfolding while Congress does nothing. The structure of the government we have was supposed to contain a specific spread or distribution of authority between the three branches. It was not envisioned that all of Congress would subjugate their responsibility to a diseased mindset in the executive branch. The conduct of this post invasion of Iraq fiasco is only becoming a quagmire because Congress is controlled by the executive branch, contrary to the intent of the Founding Fathers. This is all happening because of the two party system we have, which I do not find a basis for in the Constitution. I think we need an ammendment that makes the two pary system illegal, or at least sets standards for ethics and priorities of members of Congress. The best would be no political parties. Political parties have short term and long term goals that conflict with what is good for America, goals that are sacrificing America's interests for gaining political power to secure future political power.
Where is the Congressional oversight of the quagmire in Iraq? How is it that the President and his cronies are the ones making all the decisons and presenting the data, and his party in Congress rubber stamps his absurd "plan" and attacks the integrity of anyone, from either party who might question the veracity of the Pferdescheisse being peddled to America? It is non-existent because Congress has been subjugated by the executive branch. Jim
