RE: New York Time's Frank Rich: Bush "Dishonest, Corrupt, Reprehensible"
JimSmith - 11/28/2005 3:30 PM
KV led into the quote with his opinion, namely that it was about time the press started doing its job of calling out Bush on his manipulation of facts, and that he was amazed at how blatantly this NYT editor let loose. The article was cut and pasted because often times sources like the NYT require you to subscribe to their services to go there via a link. Cutting and pasting makes it easier for those who would like to read the article. It makes it just as easy for you to ignore, just use the scrolling wheel on your mouse, or, don't open the thread at all. I recommend the latter. Jim
Why, that is exactly true! Those of us here who are actually educated know that good debate starts with assertions, which the other side is free to rebut, in any way they wish. The assertion here is that Bush is a liar, corrupt and reprehensible to the core, because he got us into a war that did not have to be fought, and a lot of people got killed who didn't have to be killed. He has offered point after crystal clear point, citing fact and actual quote. From our current right wing cadre at this forum, the rebuttal consists of demands that we not post such embarassing things, because they hurtie der wittle feewings.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
