You lost me. Are you suggesting that Bush is some sort of conservative? Reagan would roll over in his grave...

On the contrary, I would love to respond. First off, it is incredible how the markets have rebounded after the big Democratic win. Nothing like a little democracy to stimulate capitalism. But even more fun to mention is how come Bush, despite a booming economy, is the most hated president ever, whose approval ratings are now dipping into the twenties. What gives? Why, despite all thise great economic news, is he still considered the worst bum steer to walk into this country since they openned the Chisolm Trail? What gives?

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Well, the tax cut thing was conservative, yes. He's pissed quite a bit of money away on the war, however. A true conservative would begin dismantling the spending machine, and neither party seems to have the will to do that. I'd put him to the left of Reagan, though, so you win that point.

Uhhh . . . he botched the war planning and execution thing, perhaps? He'd likely be quite revered, maybe even by you, had he not done that.

The man has spent this country into near bankruptcy by ignoring veto power, promoting social agendas and engaging in nation-building, all apparently to feed some egomaniacal need for a "consequential presidency". I would place him far to the left of Reagan, and consider that he has actually supplanted Jimmy Carter as the worst president of my lifetime, a position I had previously considered completely out of reach.

25 years ago, Americans at least showed enough collective intelligence to vote Mr. Carter out of office. GW's position as a two-term president is fodder for a future edition of Ripley's Believe It Or Not!

I lived under four years of Bush and Rove before he ever got to Washington. They are truly despicable men, and those who voted for them got what they deserved.
