It seems that someone liked the taste of the malted milk balls
that failed to bake properly.

I love that they simply named them Milk Duds,
instead of trying to come up with something more glamorous.

Well yes Dieselmorph,when Coca-Cola contained extract of Coca leaves,ie Cocaine,the name was certainly appropriate.Now I feel cheated[:D]
