My grand father is not Russian he was a WWII prisoner from Dresden that spent years in russian gulags
That reminds me of a story.
The little father of the people dies and meets Nicolai II in the afterlife.
Nick has not had any news of the mother land, so he's anxious to talk to Stalin.
N: "Hey Stal, How's it like in Russia nowdays?"
S: "Considering, nothing's really changed!"
N: "What do you mean, how's the secret police for instance"
S: "Well, we inherited that from you before us. Sure, we call it KGB, but it really hasn't changed much, we've only perfected interrogation techniques, a bit, the Lubianka is just as crappy as ever"
N: "What about the people?
S: "No improvement there, most still live in poverty. Like you, we do not really redistribute the wealth and fruit of their work"
N: "Re-educating the wicked?"
S: "There again, I'm ashamed to say that the gulags haven't changed much, if at all. You already had the system in place, we've just crowded it ever so slightly more than you had.
N: "How about vodka"
S: "Ah that's a different story now. Vodka has improved greatly, nothing like your stuff, in fact, the alcohol content went up 10%"
N: "Was that 1917 revolutionary shit really worth a 10% increase in vodka's alcohol content?"
