RE: Off Topic - Help please from California owners
It's been a long time and several earthquakes since I've been to California for an extended trip, but when I was there, the wine country was West and East of the Bay area, except for what is now Silicone Valley. I'd go to Napa/Sonoma (or "Sonapanoma" in an old wine commercial) and return to the Bay area, cross to the Coastal highway and drive South to Monterrey/Carmel. That used to be a gorgeous drive and well worth the detour. Back then, the drive from the Sonoma area straight to Monterrey was, diplomaticly put, dull. Used to be that the small vinyards in the wine country area offered guest lodgings w/ excellent fare. I was out there in October last year and noticed that Fishermans Wharf, Ghiradelli(sp) Square and the Cannery had gone to tourist h_ll, But Golden Gate Park was still lovely. The president of MBCA, Richards Simmonds, lives in San Francisco (new E350). If all else fails, I'm sure he be happy to help. Don't know his e-mail, but you can probably reach him thru the Merces Benz Club of America office. Their web site is: www.mbca.org
Hope that helps.
