i havent used windows regularly since i converted in 1999. i havent missed it at all.

when i do use windows, it feels heavy and clunky.

i have jag on my g3, panther was a little better, but not by much.

catch being that my g3 was the last g3 produced, a 900mhz iBook.

i have a g3/533 upgraded powermac 9600(killer machine) that i tried to run jag on and it took half an hour(over exageration.. but a long time) to boot using xpostfacto.

do you plan on buying a new copy of x so you arent outside your terms of service?[}:)]
I bought it (a B&W) on eBay for $300 a couple of years ago. It came with Panther installed and all the original disks for a lot of software. I use it for my internet machine and email. Right behind me I have a 603e 225 Mz machine that I bought off eBay in the late 1990's. It still runs but is really getting too far obsolete for the internet. But it's running 9.0 anf runs Excel and WordPerfect just fine. I'm gonna donate it to Goodwill (along with an original Laserwriter that powers-up but doesn't run). I have previously donated a II fx and a II si, an LC, and my (tears....) FatMac. I'm watching eBay for a G-5 over the next year or so.

At work I have a dual processor Dell with all kinds of bells and whistles for running some high-end GIS apps. It's pretty solid and XP is the best Winders software I've ever seen. Downside is it is on a LAN ruled by harsh, humorless NetGods. I am reminded of that original Mac commercial run once. On a Superbowl ad.

RE: OS X86

what 225mhz mac would that be? how much memory? any cards in it?

i adopt orphaned macs;)

*edit*

check out the imac g5-- ive never been much for the all-in-one form factor, but this imac is SWEET.

it was also only 1200 bux, 2000mhz, 512(added 512 more) 160gig and a host of useless crap. added applecare and it was like 1500, less than a g5 by itself.

I have a similar situation. My son has the old Mac clone by UMax, that came with a 603e, now running a G4 and the latest version of OSX. He does it for sport, and it took a while. All kinds of problems with the expansion slots on that cheapo clone. But once you get it to boot it is rock stable.

Wish I had kept my original Fat Mac now. It was so odd. I paid several hundred dollars extra for an external box with a 20 mb hard drive. I thought it was just awesome at the time.

We recently upgraded the family machine from another 8500 clone to a G5 I-Mac. Great machine. My company computer is a Dell Latitude D800 laptop. I log on to a similar company network. Run by what I have labelled, and to their dismay the label sticks, the IT Nazis. Thought you would enjoy that Bot. Jim
