RE: Why are dems using race as an issue?
Hey - its a shocking way to make a point, but that is exactly what they did to McCain in South Carolina, the critical primary that would have propelled the man who I think should have been president, John McCain, into the White House. Here's fowler bitching about this Oreo incident, while we have on record a blatant use of the ugliest racism as an aid to defeat a political opponent, our earliest indication of what criminals the Bush crowd was. Slanders, perjurers and liars. Wow, what a surprise. It was an organized effort - done through "push polls". They work pretty simple, I call you up, pose as a poller and ask you "would your vote for McCain change if you knew about the black baby he fathered?" Karl Rove and Scooter Libby did this crap. The reason McCain lost was because he was a decent human being who would not counter this slime. Now we have this guy oainting the dems as racist over some unconfirmed and tenuous BS while he supports a guy who shits all over people with racism.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
