so what about Benzes and counter-culture?
hey yall ineon here(laugh... its a joke, really...)
ive noticed all kinds of interest on campus in my car. i dont know if it is because i refuse to park in student parking a mile away or if it is because it has a modicum of shine at its advanced age; who cares really.
with all this talk of alternative fuels and the suv backlash, these little old cars have gotten a bit popular again. i dont know if you can buy a stinky old diesel for under 500 bux anymore because of it.
i am very glad i jumped to diesel last year, before the ebay sellers got to the general public with their hollow promises of a million trouble-free miles and 40mpg... the car was downright cheap, even at a dealership(i stopped to look at the gangster s class with shiny wheels and black everything, but could only afford the 240 with crank windows and a 4 cylinder engine.
the vw used to be the icon, but it has somehow turned into a kraut rice hybrid(that damned technology is ruining everything) type thing and i cant appreciate my beetle as much anymore. too many of them with fake empi exhaust and wheels. let alone the 2500cc engines and freeway flyer trannies.
give me a 1200 anyday. hell, let the transmission pop out of fourth on hills... at least it'd be honest. i HATE cars that lie.
but why have the 115s/123s/126s become the newschool pothead car? tree hugging hippies that once would have scoffed at the mercedes-benz name are now embracing them with open arms. is it the cheap price of admission? the option of free fuel?
are they just that damned cool?
ive always been fond of the following quote(by moi)
"i like smoke, why shouldnt my car?"
