The heat is on!!!!

The weatherman just said that tomorrow London's temperature is expected to exceed 21c (that's over 70f in old money)The average for that date over the last hundred years is 14c.The last time late October had a similar temperature was 1888 for god's sake.
Global warming-i love it! America, please keep the good work on the fossil fuels,it's much appreciated.[8D][:)][}:)]

RE: The heat is on!!!!

Oh no, the heat is emanating in the Sahara and the air mass has to cross France to reach us.So whilst it will be warm,it will stink of garlic and body odour,[:(]

I know you've gotten used to it and can't tell anymore, but it's only fair that you get a whiff of what we have to cope with when we visit your land. Oh wait a second, you said body odor, I thought you meant sewers. Sorry then.

I feel so miserable without you; its almost like having you here.

I would think any thing to mask the fetid aroma of steak & kidney pie intermingled with Shahi mutton Korma would be welcomed over there.

Must be that oversized snoot of yours misleading you again.I have lived in,worked in and visited many cities over the years in the U.S.and elsewhere and can objectively say that for all London's shortcomings
being malodourous is not one of them.NYC in the summer??-give me a break!!!The first time i visited Bombay the stench was so over powering on the way from the airport to downtown that i nearly vomited.Istanbul-the stench of shit in the air is referred to by the locals as 'national smell'

In fact,London suffered it's 'Great Stink' in the 1850s,which resulted in construction of an innovative and world leading sewerage system. It has been mostly
sanitary for the past 150 years. The Thames is now the cleanest it has been for around 500 years and is classified as the cleanest major urban river in Europe.Salmon and Trout are routinely caught in Central London.Slightly more appealing than the famous
'Hudson River Jellyfish'[xx(]

I had not entertained the possibility that you were actually serious when you posted:

I therefore thought it appropriate to reply with an equally humourous (or so I thought) post.
In light of the virulence of your words in your latest post, I now realize that I was well out of bounds.

May I submit to you that your ability to smell shit everywhere you go could also be symptomatic of the fact that you appear to be full of it, non obstante Istanbul of course.

Edit: Your obsession with the size of my nose should preoccupy you.

I feel so miserable without you; its almost like having you here.

Before someone gets blamed by association or lack thereof for the London Blitz, I thought I would interject some White Sox Fan-esque scatological humor.
Did you ever unknowingly step in dogshit and walk around for about an hour smelling the shit and failing to realize where the stench is emanating from? The worst case scenario upon realization is when it's the fresh semi-emulsified variety that shit-coats the side of your foot apparel thereby rendering said shoe virtually uncleanable. It is for this reason I believe God made discarded Slurpee straws.

Nationl Smell - you sure you're not talking about Singapore during the height of durian season?

No shit! I didn't come across anything like it when I was there. About the only stench I came across was along one section of Sea of Marmara en route to the Old City, where we stayed. In fact, I was amazed how clean it was compared to New York.

I remember there was a section in London by Battersea Power Station that was always shrouded in thick and cloying aroma much like that of bad baked beans - what in the hell was that?
