Stunned by gas (prices), customer collapses
Loveridge, LA (AP)
Although nationwide prices are falling, in this gulf coast region hit hard by hurricanes Katrina and Rita, prices are still volatile.
Like many in this area of the country, Catheryn Elseron is underemployed and struggling to put food on the table for herself and her four children. Unable even to consider filling the tank of 1987 Ford Escort, she pulled into a station near her home recently and went in to pre-pay. When she reached the register, she asked the clerk for "five dollars worth of gas". When he simply took her money, farted, and gave her the receipt, she collapsed.
Ms. Elseron is recovering at home and is expected to make a full recovery.
