Make your own. I'm going to start a batch of IPA tomorrow. I love IPA.

Don't much care for Belgians. My family does an annual beer tasting every Christmas (and you thought I wasn't religious?). My family and guests strongly differentiate along Belgian beers, especially lambics. People either love them or hate them. It's funny in a way, I don't especially like Chimay, but I like most Lambics. Nobody said I have to be consistent. Besides, Lambics have a really cool ecological succession that is responsible for its unique flavor.

Lately I've been liking wheat beers. I maybe slipping into the Belgian orbit.

I like most Belgian beers. There is a really nice fish restaurant nearby specialising in Belgian and obscure continental ales - a surprisingly good combination.

In the next few days I plan to mash my first attempt at a Hoegaarden clone. I have the speciality yeast, just waiting for the flaked wheat and Curacao orange peel to arrive. I'll tell you how it goes.

Definitely get some Duvel. It's extra special.

Well, I'm moving along into the Barleywines, and must say "here's to you, Bill Gates"!
I've wanted to try a Barleywine but none sold locally. I haven't the patience to brew my own.
I don't have the patience either. A friend makes something he calls "The turbo". 18 lbs of fermentables and untold weeks to "pretty much" ferment. Then a little champagne yeast in the bottle. I think he has some bottles of it stashed from 1985 or so.

If I really wanted to celebrate, I'd have a Firestone Walker. Gawd, I love that stuff. Alas, it is only distributed to 1 restaurant here at $15/bottle.[:(]

So, in lieu of the great Firestone, I'm having a Stella Artois.[:p]

And a joint.[:D]

There's a local brewery that produces, "Turbodog." It's a sort porter-like brew. It's easy to drink a lot of it. Not too much alcohol.

I was brewing a lot of clones of scotch beers that were really good (eventually), but I'm now in the mood for more hops!

Abita Turbodog (Alabama or Mississippi or somewhere down theya)? That's fairly high octane if I recall correctly. Used to get truck drivers to bring us back gallons of the stuff. Cheaper if you bring your own bottle?
I have no ida what Jillian's drinking.

When I first started brewing I read Jackson's website. he's got much more forgiving preferences than I have.

RE: Beer

My father did a lot of brewing and winemaking, I never have the time. He made ginger beer for us when we were kids that was phenomenal. I've tried all the the top small labels, Jamaican and otherwise. They are either sweet as molasses or spicier than the devils ass. I'd love to get my hands on a slightly spicy, not too sweet ginger beer.

In honor of the death of dieselnuts computer, I am enjoying a Chimay Grande Reserve.
Bottle conditioned Belgian ale is one of the good things. There's a four pack of Thomas Hardy ale to savor, and then I'll just open a nice bottle of port.

Cheers!

ps. Wilma Beesh!!
i HAVE drank 4 liter of Koenig Ludig Hefe-weissbier today, because i felt like it [}:)] and now i'm drunk, smoking, and about to attempt to win mnoney at cards, against the roommates..........[:0][:D][8D][:p][;)][:o)]

EDIT: oh yeah, and my Coupe Diesel Turbo just did 115 MPH!!!!!! [:p][;)][:o)]
