RE: need gun advise

Looking at the pics, it's plain that the Springfield is the best bet. The Taurus will kick like a mule, because of its light frame. Remember, it's not just getting the first round away, it's control for the follow-up. Getting the muzzle back down with the Taurus will be a bitch.
the Springfield will buck, because it's also a compact, but the wieght will reduce felt recoil.

"Two hands and plenty of Range time!!!" YEAH! Azimuth!

RE: need gun advise

Taurus started out as a "Saturday Night Special" outfit, and it's reputation (and resale value) still suffers from it, altough I have heard they have greatly improved. Their revolvers are now considered top notch.

Springfield has been around a long time - they are the Harley-Davidson of the gun market. Likw Harley, they have been owned by a lot of diff1erent owners, and on occasion have produced weapons of low quality, but for the most part, and just lately, they have produced consistently good weapons at a good price.

I don't like .45 ACP chop jobs for the reasons cited above. If you want a compact pistol, spend a few extra hundred bucks and get a SIIG .357 Siig, modell 226 is a good one. My favorite compact pistol is an old .380 Llama auto that fits nicely in my boot, that cost me like $100. Given the range most situations that call for a gun like that occurs at, you don't need some pistol that is going to blow a hole the size of a garbage can cover in your attacker- a .380 or .357 siig is plenty cartridge. If you want firepower, get a pair of 15-shot Browning Hi powers and stick them under your armpit. You can take out a whole room full of people with that setup.

You got to be a large person to conceal a .45. Otherwise, they really are a hip holster firearm. They are heavy and bulky, even the chop jobs. I keep mine in my desk drawer. If attacked, I plan to use the old antique to bludgeon my assailant.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Hand guns should be outlawed. Less people will die from needless violence so more can die behind the wheel. [:D]
amazing, the convoluted logic of some of our lurkers.
You might want to check the level in your sarcastometer. It probably needs topping off.

Screw both of those and get a Kimber. Best .45 out of the box you can get...come in carry and full sizes. Best semi-auto .45 there is. But it still won't touch my S&W 686 Combat Magnum (.357)....

Dude, you are moving to a whole new level. Last Kimber I saw was going for about $1500.

Is that "shed" or "sheet"?

RE: need gun advise

Damn right son, when I was in Baghdad they told me there were more guns there than anywhere else in the world. I said I was from Houston and they corrected themselves and said: "Except of course, Houston"...
