What happened to sanity in the Republican Party?
It was hijacked by these fellows...

RE: Conservatives getting totally hammered

You should name them "Bush" and "Cheney". And the wild pigs, you can call them "Frist" and "Delay", after a couple of other porkers.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I named the snakes Cheney and Rove a few days ago...

We need to make the standards and toss those who don't measure up out. Jim
Gosh -- I wonder where we should start. Now let me think....... [:D]
Uh...vote?
Not that GermanStar was suggesting this line of discussion, but voting is apparently not working. There needs to be some other mechanism that, when you don't measure up you get terminated. Like any other job. The power that comes with a political office in our federal government is too easy to abuse for great lengths of time with the present set up. The elections are too predictably timed, the science of duping the public with methods such as those Karl Rove has introduced are too powerful and the general populace is too apathetic. But none of those things justifies institutionalized fucking of the American public. Jim
It works fine, just not to your benefit on this cycle. Cheer-up, things look good for your side in the mid-terms next year and probably even for the next general election.

My side looses every election. But I keep plugging away.

Actually Bot, if there is anything Rove's tactics have taught the next generation of campaign managers, it is that blatant, self serving sales tactics, used by people selling soap to cars, can be put to effective use gathering votes. The problem is those sales tactics are successful selling people things they don't need, and probably never wanted until they ran into the accomplished salesman. Translated into national elections for POTUS and seats in Congress, selling tactics that work even when they sell people candidates they neither need or want are not good for the people. We have no evidence people that get sold junk repeatedly are getting any better at recognizing when they are being sold junk. In the past, like in January 2001, I was convinced the process was what it was. Another election would follow. Americans would be able to tell what was what. Then we got diverted into a media manipulation of Swiftboat Vets vs. Kerry, Kerry being a flip flopper, and more such fact manipulations presented in a manner that sells tampons to men who ordinarily have no use for them. The actual facts of what happened leading up to 9-11, up to the Shock and Awe, then ground invasion of Iraq, what happened after that, what happened to all the surplus in the federal budget, what the concept of tax cuts for the wealthy was all about, and so on, were all neatly muffled by Swiftboat bullshit. And it worked. Which means we will get more of the same. And next time it will be from both sides since a hot seller always generates imitations, from soft drinks to movies. Seems like rewarding people for manipulating the human operating system program with no intent to provide the service expected of them is just not wise. Jim
