RE: Time to bring a new author into the forum

I was surprised, I thought it was an older saying than that.

There was a massive list of his quotes, some others I thought were older too. For example, "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade".

I bet he was a hoot at parties

RE: Time to bring a new author into the forum

Earlier post 'Click 430':
"Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still"
"I only wish I knew the source...
AS a publisher I understand that fear sells. Folks who either cant see the forest, or search for the one rotten tree as some sort of proof of impending doom, do so with the intent of demanding a solution... and others who feed on this sense of insecurity will most certainly provide it, for a price. The Y2K hysteria was a stand-alone proof of this. With war, bad breath and improbable compairsons of the clothes we wear, the same thing applies. We fear. We fear conspirisy. We fear inadequacy. We fear that someone else has more. So people like me feed it. We advertise using images of perfection, to drive the need to achieve parity, if not to be able to buy a story that's different from the one we have, so the story that the public sees is not the true reflection of the person inside. We search for the compliments of strangers. We fear that they may see who we really are. Disagreement? Great! We'll sell you some more stories to wear, to drive or to smell. I believe that the reason for the ever widening gap in the social classes is due to the poorest among us can't buy any other story, other than the worn clothes, the wrecked cars, the project homes... So they are seen as we train the public to see them. not as people, but as objects of pity. and then we will sell more stories to make sure that no one looks at "us" that way..."
.................................................. ...

Thanks your professional perspective - kind of sad reading though.
