However, our economy still cannot sustain a doubling, or near tripling of gasoline prices.
And that's where we in the US differ from you. We think ours CAN, but I'm afraid we will find out the the truth the hard way.
Please don't shatter my dreams!

You're suggestion that our economy cannot is not only anti-American, it is disturbing, unsettling, and scares the A-jesus (or is it the B-Jesus, hard to tell triune Gods apart), out of me me.

Fortunately, we do know better that listening to rational and factual arguments. Stragnely, my old 850i's V12 started running much better when 93 octane gas prices reached over $3 / gal.
That is what 850i's do right before it loses yet another throttle body! [:p]

What have I done to you guys that you'd both want me dead?

Prices "out of control"? I hope so! I hope we do not artificially control prices. The markets does that, quite well, thank you very much. Price controls just ensure a lack of supply.

You wouldn't change your tune if you were paying more the $9/gallon and all the crap that goes along with it? Americans would be screaming bloody murder more so than Canadians I suspect.

Yeah, there's a bunch of smarts north of the border.

I'm telling you this is the way to go......If you don't mind vibrating the remainder of the day after a 20 minute ride.

Check out zapworld.com it's got potential but the management group is weak so are their finances. They have a great marketshare in the samll EV and can move up the ladder with the right people at the helms.

Ouch! Figure the cost of an MB ignition and triple it. That's what those damn things cost.
