RE: KATRINA RELIEF
MBGary - 9/21/2005 5:48 PM
This is MBGary complaining
I felt I had to help with the displaced Katrina Victims. I made a deal with a food wholesaler for 400 cans of prepared food for shipment to the Salvation Army and FEMA my costs $400.00. I have now been advised any prepared foods containing Canadian beef products will not be allowed through US customs!!!! These people are in dire straits and the red tape by the US goverment is sick sick sick. They steal all our lumber and energy sources then stick us up the ass with import duties, then they have the gull to ask for relief assistance, we send three ship loads of support and they send us back home??
The US owes Canada $5 billion in unauthorised Lumber duties, now they will need billions in lumber products that we may never provide, as well as a gas line across our country, what comes around turns around!!! right?
Next time, send them a check. Donate here:
They have plenty of food, in fact food and clothing is coming out of their ears. What they need is a job.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
