RE: Bush only three points from from tying Carter's record for lowest approval rating

On July 15th, Iraqis demonstrated against Saddam and terrorists: Noisy protesters waved Iraqi flags, chanted anti-Saddam slogans and held up posters depicting mass graves."Let every fool listen, Saddam has to be executed," Al Sadr was on hand to (curiously, but helpfully) denounce the terrorist Zarquawi.

In 2001, with Bin laden's help they [Kurdish extremists] reformed into an organization called Ansar Al-Islam. There are indications that by then the Iraqi regime tolerated and may even have helped Ansar Al islam against the Kurdish enemy. (NOTE: There is plenty of evidence linking Iraqi intelligence to Ansar Al Islam. That linkage has served the insurgency, and Zarqawi is one of those links!)

In March 1998, after Bin Ladin’s public fatwa against the United States, two al Qaeda members reportedly went to Iraq to meet with Iraq intelligence. In July, an Iraqi delegation traveled to Afghanistan to meet first with the Taliban and then with Bin Ladin. Sources reported that one, or perhaps both of these meetings was apparently arranged through Bin Ladin’s Egyptian deputy, Zawahiri, who had ties of his own to the Iraqis.

Couple of questions for you Alfa:
-Was the Kurdish territory under Saddam's control???
-What is your source for this tenuous Iraq AlQaeda connection? What sources?
-Where is this "plenty of evidence" that links Ansar to Iraqi Intel? If there's plenty of it, you should be able to find some. I haven't seen any of it. I have seen evidence that the 2 were opposed to eachother. I'll see if I can't find some for you.

This backs up my previous post

It was formed in December 2001 as a merger of Jund al-Islam (Soldiers of Islam), led by Abu Abdallah al-Shafi'i, and a splinter group from the Islamic Movement in Kurdistan led by Mullah Krekar. Krekar is alleged to be the leader of Ansar al-Islam. He has lived in Norway, where he has refugee status, since 1991. On March 21, 2003 his arrest was ordered by Økokrim, a Norwegian law enforcement agency, to ensure he did not leave the country while accusations that he had threatened terrorist attacks were investigated.

Ansar al-Islam has been accused by the United States of providing a safe haven to al-Qaeda associates, led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi. According to the US, they had established a camp for the production of poisons, including ricin. The US has also claimed that Ansar al-Islam has links with Saddam Hussein, thus claiming a link between Hussein and al-Qaeda. The claims were rejected by Krekar, and a presentation by Colin Powell to the UN on February 5, 2003 was met with widespread scepticism (see United Nations actions regarding Iraq).

You, Alfa my friend, appear to be horribly misinformed. Are you still expecting to find WMD there too?

Friends will be friends. Hillary seen here - embracing the wife of Yasser Arafat - shortly after saying the following:

"This rests squarely on the shoulders of Yasser Arafat," she said, adding that he has continually refused to round up and imprison terrorists.

"No one is safe because the leadership of the Palestinian Authority refuses to take responsibility for the acts of terror that have occurred with increasing frequency," Clinton told reporters at Manhattan's Pierre Hotel.

In another expression of Iraqi free speech, on July 23 to the BCC, in a story headlined ‘Saddam Hussein had link with Al Qaeda’, Prime Minister Allawi himself defended the US-led coalition’s war against Saddam and said: “The Iraqi people, we are deeply appreciative of both the role of Tony Blair and President Bush in helping Iraq to liberate itself, he said. Of course every country's PM gets a voice - it's just rare in the Arab world it's one that uses our favorite word - Liberate.

Wow! Now that is REALLY shocking. The puppets we placed in power are defending the people and the war that put them in power. Imagine that! It really boggles the mind.
