66 Years ago today...

Hitler reluctantly invades Poland, but only after being provoked by warmongering Poles. The previous night, a Polish commando team shot their way into a German radio station in the border town of Gleiwitz, and broadcasted a radical call to arms against the peaceloving people of Germany. Except that it was all an elaborate sham engineered by Nazi general Reinhard Heydrich, dubbed Operation Canned Goods.

Two hypotheses have been advanced.
1) The poles were insiduously dumping their potato based vodka on the depressed German market.
2) Hitler hated Polka, one of his advisors in Munich during October fest thought he heard the fuhrer say he hated Polska, and decided to obliterate the enlightened country as a birthday gift for his fuhrer bitch!

The invasion was justified. WMD's were suspected in the form of deadly nerve agents. Unfortunately said agents turned out to be Babcha Krupinski's kapusta which was left on the stove too long. But after all the trouble of lugging their gear across the border, they had a chuckle over the peccadillo and killed a bunch of folks.

G.W. Bush IS NOT responsible for Hitler's invasion of Poland.

At the time the decision to invade was taken, and during the whole duration of the Blitz Krieg, G.W. was on vacation at his Crawford ranch!

Was, were and am. I think I said "were" when referring to my first restaurant venture with my wife in charge of the front of the house, making it difficult to carry on the great tradition of "back of house, front of house mutual revulsion".
Being a native of Warsaw, she felt the need to speak strictly Polish to our son for the first 5 years of his life. I caught on to it like secondhand smoke and can "Mowimy Po Polsku " with the best of them.[^]
