Hitchens and Iraq

Who's going to break the news to Hitchens that the administration never believed its own propaganda? When the light finally comes on for him, he'll be living a lonely existence, expelled by the left and a cuckold of the right.

RE: Hitchens and Iraq

Just goes to show you don't have to be a liberal to be an elitist. It's too bad he is such an apologist for the Bush administration, some of the achievements he listed any monkey could have done, and the others our administration had no hand in -- purely coincidence Libya capitulated, and it's questionable that the Taliban and the Baath party have been overthrown.

I like these:

Quote:
(9) The violent and ignominious death of thousands of bin Ladenist infiltrators into Iraq and Afghanistan, and the real prospect of greatly enlarging this number.

(10) The training and hardening of many thousands of American servicemen and women in a battle against the forces of nihilism and absolutism, which training and hardening will surely be of great use in future combat.
Arguably more beneficial to the cause of terrorism than to ours. I wonder how the troops feel about being used as training tools?

RE: Hitchens and Iraq

He's made a career out of being the "leftist who licks Bush's hiney".

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

I absolutely love the title of his book: Humanitarian Arguments for War in Iraq That's precious, precious indeed.

Hitchens is way way too deep in the sauce, from what I've read. Jack Daniels replacing brain cells does not make for a clever boy.

Attack Hitchens, not what he says.
Attack Coulter, not what she says.

Pattern emerges.

Are you reading what we write Bot?
I believe both Z and I ARE CRITIIQUING what the man says/writes. The only pattern I see emerging is your disingenuous characterization of others' posts as personal attacks.

Bot,
Not only THAT, but do you know how hypocritical your statement is in light of your Sheehan comments "nutty broad."

Certainly you weren't exactly setting the gold standard for responding to ideas and not the speaker.
Sheesh!
