RE: Islam and the west: incompatible?

If a philosophy or belief system claims that others are wrong, despite a lack of proof or empirical evidence, it is far from perfect. I suppose that one can suggest that such a thing is perfect for him/her, but that's the extent of it.
An interesting point. If we define that the perfect religion means that it must be provable, then it ceases to be religion and becomes science. I can see two other ways out of this:
1) The perfect religion generates an epiphany to those who learn it in its entirety.
2) The perfect religion accepts that it may not be perfect and that other belief systems may be just as valid if not moreso.
While #1 is highly unlikely, #2 poses some interesting issues. Can a perfect religion accept the chance of imperfection? I don't see why not. It's not perfect and claiming to be imperfect, it's simply accepting the chance that it may be imperfect.
It also validates the ethics issue I brought forth earlier where I couldn't find a reason why extermination of non-believers was wrong. If a perfect religion is refined to include the trait whereby "claims that others are wrong, despite a lack of proof or empirical evidence, [the religion] is far from perfect" it precludes mass genocide (which is typically frowned upon by those pesky liberals [:)]).
So to summarize, the perfect religion must be able to adapt to scientific advances, must not have to be forced upon others at gunpoint, and must not claim that other religions are wrong without proof. It's interesting to note that the perfect religion thus far does not require the need of a deity nor does it preclude that a deity exists. Additionally it does not specify any sort of real code of ethics other than that of tolerance of other religions.
I tend to believe that no religion is perfect, all of them (including atheism) can be perverted into something awful. Conversely, it's hard to name a major religion that cannot be interpreted as a perfect religion. Like GermanStar and BrentG500 imply, it's up to the people to interpret the religion in a perfect manner.
