RE: Capitol Hill dares to threaten U.S. monarchy
I think congress is so frightened by the incredible drop in Bush's popularity ratings and the emerging Rove scandal, that they are going to start asserting themselves away from our increasingly ineffective Bumbler-in-Chief. Bush's well known affinity for sticking by those loyal to him no matter the cost makes it quite obvious that a possibility exists that Bush will take everyone over the cliff with him over the Rove affair. In irony of all ironies, Bush may be made the official scapegoat of the Republican Party.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
