Gas prices went way up in H-town today

Get ready for the next round.I was on the road at 4:30 AM and all the little price mice were changing the signs. What really surprised me is the price of diesel, which went up about 20 cents to $2.45 a gallon, same price as premium. How exactly does a diesel save money now?

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

A freind and neighbor had a fleet of trucks on the road two years ago. He is now down to four. He's crying and drinking on a nightly basis. You can't compete in that industry with these prices. He has to turn down job after job as he must pay for fuel, insurance, tolls and the driver. There is always an independent driver to take these jobs.

i have started to think that oil smuggling is a good idea.. well i knew some guy who actually used to legally export scrape salaved from power houses. Some of the machinery had tanks which held as much as 20tons of oil. what he did was to clean the tanks and fill them up with local petrol.. which is octane 114 and is valued a lot in US.. and then before they would reach the port.. they would stop in the middle of the sea somewhere and empty all the petrol into the tanks in some smal ship of launch which was alredy waiting at the preset spot.

now with war on terror he cant smuggle shit due to all the american navy patrolin in the sea.. otherwise he would be making even more bucks and myself would be willing to invest my last cent into this business.. and with buddies on this forum crying for their V8 benz fuel.. im sure high sales were guranteed!! [}:)]

Fuel economy!! whats that??

Yeah, I filled up the tank of one of my 300Ds yesterday, $2.45 a gallon, cost me almost $40 to fill up. It gets 26.5 MPG; my Grand Cherokee gets 21 MPG highway, but regular gas is cheap enough that it's just about a wash.

Diesel is only cheaper if you're making your own biodiesel, an idea I'm contemplating again after letting the heated WVO idea die a quiet death late last year due to lack of time and technical expertise on my part.

Very roughly 30 K US per annum. But taxes are HIGH, so probably in US terms it is closer to 25 K.

You're right, it's crayzzeee.
