Bush says the economy is "turning a corner". Some corner.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

The Republicans will blame Clinton for the downturn, saying W. did all he could to salvage what was left of our ruined economy. Some sheep will actually believe this when repeated to them time and again by right wing nut jobs. Media still absent from giving any useful information. Schools still underfunded in order to keep society stupid and interested in idiotic cases like Michael Jackson and Terri Schiavo.
Meanwhile the rest of the world improves their education, and that respective nation as a whole learns to focus on what is important to their well being.

If you think the media is bad now......Look who was Time's Man of the Year for 1943. This is before the Russians copped to the Katyn Forest massacre after blaming the Germans for decades.

Damn, where is OPEC and Saudi Arabia with that production increase to stabilize prices? They are going to spur alternative energies if they are not careful, despite resistance from the administration.

We don’t blame the Saudis or opec the oil price on the rise is due to the hurricane (Hurricane Dennis) in the pacific. And thanks the instability you all bought in Iraq, anyways why are we not getting oil form Iraq.

Hey, freedom is on the march in Iraq, the oil is sure to follow. Of course you won't get our militarily subsidized price of $60 a barrel, you get to pay full price of $100 per barrel. As soon as the market will bear it, we will release it. [:D]

The stock exchange has been stuck in the same range it has been stuck in since Bush took office. It is a typical bear market - on good news the bulls kick the average up a little as they buy hoping the good old days have finally returned, and then the bears take them to the cleaners as reality returns. Play the market that way, and you'll make some money. Learn how to sell short.

The job situation is the same - quality high tech and manufacturing jobs fall, while low tech low paying jobs increase. We lose 100,000 jobs for engineers, gain 101,000 for janitors, and call that "success!".
