Chrysler SRT8. Built by Mercedes Benz, and basically drives like one too. 440hp.

I totalled my G, now I'm driving this economical vehicle

Not Ultra Low Emission Vehicle certified, my wife is feeding me beans too often for that!

RE: OT - Alternative vehicles

Rover is bankrupty, not Land Rover. Land Rover is owned by Ford and doing GREAT!!!

I have had MB's for years, but the new Range Rover may be my next car ... unless of course MB gets it's act together, or makes Jeep a turnaround story.

RE: OT - Alternative vehicles

I suppose it really depends on what aspects of the G Wagen appeal to each individual but to my mind the Santana PS 10 is the only affordable alternative that really carries on the spirit behind the development and production of the first 460's, such as.

Originally developed for the military
Solid well protected chassis designed to last.
Military spec axles and drivetrain
Simple easy to work on engine

And it won this months 4x4 magazine best off roader test. The only thing missing is the difflocks and even they can easily be fitted after market.

And best of all it's never been near Solihull in its life [:D]

Have you not considered an ML? I've not had a single problem since I drove it home in '99. And here in the rust capitol of the world (Chicago loves to salt the roads) not a spec on it! This is what I use for off roading or return trips to the liqour store.

What kit did you use to lower it?
What are you going to do with the two other wheels? I want first dibs on them in case you don't plan to return that ML to stock
Does the engine run better without all the electronic crap?
Were these brakes taken from an AMG ML55?

Awesome!

I've found that an average daily caloric intake of 5000 lowers it sufficiently. Unfortunately I melted down the other tires for table candles, and due to recent malfunction, the brakes are provided by New Balance. I didn't say SAFE return trips to the liquor store.
