moo-yeah!

Just when you thought it was safe to plan your summer BBQ.... BSE is Back in the USSA! I'm not an alarmist, but even the perception that US beef is unsafe could have incredible economic consequences here and abroad. My guess is that any animal infected will quickly be blamed on another country, and that it will immediately have a paper trail indicating that it has been quarantined it's entire life. How exactly it aquired BSE is irrelevant...

RE: moo-yeah!

Considering there are about 155 cases of CJD in the world, BSE only exists in the brain and spinal cord, and the there is no real evidence that BSE causes CJD I think I'll make reservations at Mortons tonight[:D]:

I love it when the media gets wind of a poorly understood disease, gives is a media friendly name (probably better called "annoyed cow disease"), and blows it all out of proportion so everyone stops importing beef from various countries. If they weren't all a bunch of idiots I'd blame it on a Peta conspiracy...

Thanks,

Jeff
