What other cars are you into?

I'm into about anything that looks good, I would say that I have an eclectic taste. But mainly muscle cars, hotrods, ratrods, & Classic VW's.

RE: What other cars are you into?

the classic vw is my other passion, notice my sig?

ive got a little 65 1200 sedan that ive got everything torn apart on, kinda sad, really. it was in fabulous shape before i ripped it up. ive always wanted a car with a two tone interior, so i bought one for it and the interior fix escalated into a full tilt restoration.

that being said, the car really has history, its been in Birmingham its whole life(under the respray i found a roebuck vw sticker) no big rust, just some dimples here and there. i did have one surprise, though. there was a GIANT dent in the rear quarter covered with like 3 inches of bondo.

im also a big fan of the first generation neons. ive had mine going on 8 years. never a part replaced beyond wear items. it needed its first set of wipers and brakes at the same time(85k) its fixing to turn over 135k(same as the mercedes) and is running very strong. its a shame they cant build a sporty frugal car like this to last a while though. there is a certain beauty to a car that every part is engineered to last 10 years in, but coming up on year number 8 i dont feel so good about it anymore! this car really doesnt cease to amaze me sometimes, though. it weighs right at 2300 pounds, 150 horses, manual tranny. 0-60 under 8 seconds and 36mpg with a light foot(i once got 41, but that was years ago) its really a very fun car.

This signature removed to protect the innocent.

My current project. A childhood dream, my 66 stang vert.

Also, a childhood dream. My kids rideing in the back of my wagon, like we did in my friends when I was little.

Two dreams at once!

I haven't deceided what the next project will be when the vert is finished.

Say hypothetically that in a garage a non-restored 1968 Shelby Cobra Jet fastback 428 was stored for the last XX years (1 owner). Would that be a car worth restoring?

RE: What other cars are you into?

before I got hooked on diesels, I liked volvos. I had a '67 1/2 122s coupe, a '78 245, and an '87 245.
Here are three pics, one of my '87, and two of someone else's 122s. Mine was some sort of minty green color like the one at the botom, and not much more mechanically challenging than a tractor. dual su carbs, blah.

It's funny, because I've now owned 6 wagons. The '87 volvo and my '85 300TD are almost the same color...

I love my A4. With a few exceptions I love most new Audi's.
