I am torn about this... Very important!

Yes time for another old car. But should I buy it? '77 6.9 liter S class in a solid low #2 condition. Great mechanicals, mediocre paint, great interior. Brown exterior. Lots o' records. Blah, blah, blah.
Would be another toy. Whatcha think it worth?

PS Yea I know the suspension and injection are pains in the ass.

RE: I am torn about this... Very important!

It drives like a dream when in top shape. Your best bet is from a collector, never from a the street. The 6.9 is finicky and needs constant tweaking.
The suspension is not that bad but you have to consider all four wheels use the hydraulic system. This means you will need four accumulators (for sure, if they have never been replaced), a distribution valave (I am not sure if it is a single or dual valve, I think there is a front and rear) and most likely hoses to the reservoire. The pump is usually bullet proof (I had to replace mine after some idiot hit it with a hammer while doing work on the front part of the engine).
The engine is excellent if taken care of. It is kind of strange to check the oil level on this car as you have to do this while the engine is running and after a warm up (no dipstick in the usual place either).
Have fun finding a good example, I sold mine ten years ago and it was in mint condition (I miss it).
