What a collosal waste of good steel, which incidently is commanding a hefty scrap price these days--more evidence of Pentagon mismanagement of taxpayers funds.

Fer Chrissakes! Don't be a tool and give the guy his due. I thought it was clever.

it said right in the article that the data provided by the explosions will provide better intelligence for building future warships...

I guess that begs the question as to whether we require future warships. Don't we have enough already?

And yes, I should've given jerk yer pah his fair credit for a damn funny quadruple entendre.

RE: America: a sinking ship

I got sent to the "America" to get some parts for a turbine governor. It was docked nearby. What an immense ship she was! I went aboard and made it to the engineering spaces okay. They were clean and well-maintained with an alert boiler room crew. I got the transaction completed and left.

Daayem, I got so lost! I ened-up on the flight deck...twice!

Now if we can just scuttle 3-4 more carrier battle groups we can save some real cash!

RE: America: a sinking ship

In my mind, this is just another stupid, stupid act. This ship should have been bid out for salvage, not sunk. The museum thing wouldn't work. All these museum types end up looking for public funds to realize their poor economic dreams. As to scuttling other battle groups, please keep ib mind two things. First, we need them, as an illusion to evil doers, and also the local economy they support.

RE: America: a sinking ship

New armor on ships or not, even the older Russian weapons like an AS-4 or a Shipwreck will always cause immense damage to say nothing about the Type 65 Torpedo....they should have scraped it.
