RE: On Liberals

Entrenched political beliefs are not just the forte of the (slim) majority of US citizens. I am still amazed at how little the UK electorate responded to that smarmy sob Bliar & Co(remember the 1.5 million anti-war demonstrations in London?).

Wtf does it take to get the people's attention? There seems to be a shockingly high tolerance of lies and murder in the 'civilised' world - please, someone explain this to me. I'll listen.

RE: On Liberals

When one studies the psychology of motivation, one finds the top motivator of human action is fear. Blair and Bush are skillful motivators.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Heck yeah, facism is wrong.

Doesn't mean we have to agree on every bleeding definition and occassion. We just call them as we see them and trust that we're doing the best we can with what we've got. Lets just not call each other unfortunate epithets.
Pardon me, my fine fellow, but I believe you threw the first fucking cunt.
Did you take the time to see why, Mr fine fellow? On a difference of opinion, to which he took vigorous exception, The Fucking Cunt called me a liar. I use a simple rule: It's easy, anybody who calls me a liar, as an attempted form of argument and without providing any evidence other than his vacuous, flaccid orifice flapping noisily, is a fucking cunt.

Got anything you'd like to add, fine fellow?
Oh, I don't think you are a liar Mr. B, I think you merely carry the lies of others. I believe the technical term for that is "dupe", tho some perfer "stooge".

Now that comment should rank even worse retorts than I got, as I gave Bot the credit that he's smart enough not to be duped.

I'm going to pay if Mrs. Az reads this, but I can no longer resist....Bot, anyone who calls you a liar without supporting the claim is a pucking fussy.
Instead of casting aspersions, why don't you go see what I called him on and how I supported it.
Sorry, Old. It wasn't my intent to cast anything on anyone specifically.....I really just wanted to say "pucking fussy".

I don't think you're being honest with yourself or others about this administration or its agenda and policies.

There comes a time when "good Germans" must misbehave--that time is now.
So, in your world the folks who agree with you are brilliant, insightful, and people of integrity. Folks who disagree with you are self-deluding stooges, fools, or stupid.

In my world I assume that people with whom I disagree are normal people who look at the facts and question their prejudices and then come to their own conclusions. In my world, I believe it is reasonable to call an argument ill-conceived, poorly framed, illogical, unsupported by facts, or just plain stupid. But I don't believe it is useful, proper, reasonable, or necessary to make assumptions or ad hominem arguments. To me, those methods are unproductive at best and intentionally insulting at worst.

Of course, when some dimwitted, slack-jawed, knuckle-dragging, boy-loving jackass calls me a liar, I am not above calling that jackass a fucking cunt. Because that's what he his to me.

RE: On Liberals

...sometimes apologists for dangerous policies need to be uncomfortably singled out--apparently you drew the short straw around here.

Fascism is wrong, and blindly and uncritically accepting our descent into domestic fascism and imperialist foreign policy is unconscionable, especially for a self-described libertarian. Again, you're on the wrong side of history.

folks who see fascism in every event with which they disagree may wish to reflect on their own preconceptions.

RE: On Liberals

No preconceptions required. Weigh the facts over time and draw reasonable conclusions. I don't think you or your NeoCon buddies actually desire a fascist outcome per se, but the logical outcome of the policies you admire and/or downplay lead down the slippery slope of clear and present danger.

Nationalism clouds both perception and judgement, and impedes critical thinking--time to detox and rid the mind of harmful poisons.

RE: On Liberals

Bot is trying to have some fun (and then being too serious) pointing out that some of us might be delusional liberals with just as much prejudice as those neocons we criticize constantly.

Possible.

Or more likely, as Z said better than I, that we are critical of any swing in our gov't policies that take from the masses and give to the few. Using the tried and true religion, fear, and state controlled propaganda machines to keep 'em manipulated (yes there is always manipulation, but an increase is not a thing to ignore). It is not that this did not happen before, it is just sad to see it taken to the next level in a society that routinely thinks of itself as a leader in democracy.
