...ya, we'll never live down FDR's internment of US citizens in concentration camps--oh wait, we're still doing that.

RE: America's imperialist plans

Posted by azimuth: What you have described is a voluntary mutually beneficial arraingement with an equitable transfer of value. How does that fit the definition of imperialism?

-----------------------------------------------------

"Equitable?" So far Halliburton is getting lots more out of the Iraq war than are the Iraqi people, who are the ones who must live in a constant fear of civil war.

Azimuth,

Being in Iraq for the oil was never intended to benefit all of us. Therefore the logic that if there was a benefit being reaped it would be apparent to all of us does not apply. We can all be sure there is someone, somewhere, reaping the benefits. I doubt very seriously they will stand up and let us know who they are and what the benefits have been, or will be. Jim
Soooo, it's a conspiracy?
Less a conspiracy and more "business as usual." The conspiracy button got its label worn off when it comes to making money. It is better known as making deals. A business deal is much more socially accepted than a business conspiracy. Jim

RE: America's imperialist plans

Probably because there are no liberals who hate America. It's the conservatives who hate America - they hate her poor, her non-religious and anyone who does not agree with their fascist agenda. Guys like you make it pretty clear you hate this country as it stands now, and want a different country, where religious kooks dictate to the rest of us while your propaganda machine gives us the "news".

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Learned that from him and learned to lock away American citizens without due process from "Honest" Abe.

Well now I have heard it all. If that isn't the pot calling the kettle black. I don't know what is....

I am conservative and I don't hate America or her population. You are incorrect!

RE: America's imperialist plans

the USA IS to blame for a lot of things. Not everything, but a lot of things. Generations of economic exploitation of the 3rd world have a price, and like the debt, it gets handed down to the grand-kids. We're facing it. And our sense of entitlement to take control over resources, governments, etc/ without any repercussions, is something the rest of the world rightly finds disgusting.

It is not liberals or conservatives or dems or repos or libs or Libs or greens, etc. who see these things. It's anyone who takes an honest look. Do they even teach history anymore?
