RE: FLA. to allow students to sue their professors for teaching evolution
I have to say LK, this just the same intolerance of which I was speaking on the other thread except it's coming from the other side. I don't understand why anyone thinks that the other guy can't freely speak his mind while allowing the same for the other side. Is that not what political discussion in a free society is all about (sorry, ended a sentance with a prep)?
I can understand consequences coming to a prof who staunches the opinions and beliefs of others through ridicule or public berating/mocking. However, the socratic defense of one's position is elementary in the creation of theory and thought. Who among us is an attorney? Answer me this, had you never had to defend a position until your first assignment, what would your chances of success have been against a more experienced adversary? Council us here, councilor.
Without the the free and complete expression of ideas and exchange of information unfettered by the fear of retaliation and ridicule, education is a myth.
Thanks for the article LK, top notch again.
