RE: Do you think the USA will have a nuclear attack...
We spend something like $600 billion a year for a "defense" department that is designed to invade the Soviet Union, which no longer exists. As a result, our only tool of military might is big invasions, and as we have seen in Iraq, this is a useless tool against international terrrorism, although it does seem to be an effective tool for making men who love watching useless death and military mass murder feel as tho they have a penis that is much larger than the one they actually have.
What we actually need for our $600 billion dollars, is a defense establishment that is centered around stealth, detection, high tech survelliance, staffed by men who are trained in clandestine infiltration and assasination of our enemies. In addition, we need a foreign policy geared towards cooperation and coordination of police activities with friendly democracies, and an economic policy that seeks providing a higher standard of living for the third-world poor.
Instead, we pissed off our friends, invade the wrong country while giving a big boost to the recruitment efforts of our enemies, who need a vast pool of people enraged enough to commit suicide to defeat our hi-tech advantage.
Given the fact that under the current military-industrial fascist regime all of this is impossible, one can just about guarantee that the US will be the victim of some type of devasting nuclear attack.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
