innovation wil come from here, Japan and such.. India/China are gonna be doing the grunt work.. that's how it looks to me...
Several companies have started to move some R&D to Eastern European countries, India, and Pakistan
(not the whilte paper, just a toc)
), automotive, etc... they are all looking into it.
Guess what, as suggested by Professor above, we are lagging in math, and education in general. Eastern block engineers are well educated, hungrier than we are, and cheaper.
As long as we believe that our educational system needs no fixing and needs not be democratized, foreigners with their free, state-sponsored-but-taxpayer-burdened, no-curve-contest-like(the top of the class advances because there's nly so many seats in the next year)-and-not-B-average-is-good-enough, frogeigners (was I saying before I grossly interrupted myself) will attract more capital for their brains, and we will lose that battle for innovation, just like we have gone from industrial production, to services oriented.
I suppose as long as we have a stronghold on capital, we'll continue to feed our superiority complex, after that, maybe the steel industry will pick back up in Pittsburgh, which will help the Steelers win SuperBowl CIV.
We also have the best medical system, for those who can afford it!
PS. You'll never see me lined up outside a theater for an Indian movie premiere, but they already have the largest film industry in the world, creativity is not our bastion any more either.
