What would it mean to you to have reality perfectly explained?
The limitless ire of every fundamentalist on the planet?
The question will eventually become, "What entity created the rules that governed the creation of, and the perpetuation of, the universe?"
Established religion will be pissed, they will adapt, some already admit that the Book is not a litteral account of events (particularly Genesis), while others deny all alegorical content (they're the ones that do not want me to purchase beer Sunday before noon, as if I were stupid enough to allow myself to run out on Saturday night!)
All in all, nothing will emerge but new doctrine, and people will yearn for it, buy it at a rate, I suspect, of around 10% of their salary (others will cheat though, but will ask for forgiveness). You know people want to believe, I hold a proof of that in the deluge of adds to grow my penis that I receive daily.
As for me, I figure that I am a sentient collection of biochemical processes, there is no hope. There is no God, if there were one, He could only be imperfect, a cruel master puppeteer who'd have given me half a brain so that could despair that He did not exist!
