RE: Question about prayer

On an unrelated topic, and perhaps not as moving as seeing the pope, I think I had a Kerry Edwards sighting today.

Home Depot on Santa Fe, driving a cream 300TD. It was somewhat of a religious experience.

I'm going to go light a candle.

Call Home Depot and see if there's a shrine we can visit.

That was me, buying some ceramic tile for a bathroom. Been cursing that tile for the last two hours. I've broken more perpendicular to the score line than split correctly. Time to dig out the tile saw.
Do you live close by? I'm about half a mile from the store, near the Mayan.

Bot:
Check out Andrew Newburgh's work. His book is called, Why God still matters or something like that. He does brain scans of religious people--buddhist monks and catholic nuns. There are definite religious physiologies. I tried to get him to scan some Pentecostals speaking in tongues and then scan me speaking in tongues to see whether 'belief' made any difference in the physiology of the experience. Couldn't talk him into it.
He appeared in that propagandistic film, 'What the Bleep'.

RE: Question about prayer

No I'm in north denver, Berkley area, we happened to be down that way and stopped in for a gallon of paint. You drove past us in the parking lot. I saw the neck brace and the Benz and told the wife, hey, I know that guy.

We were in the red Landcruiser with the dogs hanging out the window.

I like the Baker area, we looked at a couple victorians there when we were house hunting.

I like your test, except I'd like it double-blind if possible. Like him in one room and various stripes of holy rollers in others and fakers (and fakirs) in others. He gets to evaluate the runs but a technician in a third room feeds him the data stream.

But whether God, gods, crystals, transcendental meditation or general contentment with life, I think the readings would all detect a similar pattern of waves. A subject who is relaxed and inwardly focused, however the wiggly lines spell it.

So the wiggly lines thingy is not a God detector, but it may be a contentment detector.

I remember your Landcruiser. Owned a couple of FJ 55's so my eye catches them. Where exactly is the Berkley area?
When we bought in the Baker neighborhood in 89, there were tons of HUD homes everywhere that could be bought for a song.

RE: Question about prayer

Berkley is between 38th and I 70, from Tennyson to Sheridan. Nice old neighborhood, lots of trees, nice park.

RE: Question about prayer

My daughter's best friend lives in the co-housing at the old Elitch site. I was driving just north of there a few months ago and really liked the neighborhood.
