The likely new Iraqi Prime Minister
So, what have 1,400 of our best young men and women died for in Iraq? According to today's news reports, this likely new prime minister is: A) A fundamentalist Islamist; B) A member of a political party that has a history of terrorist attacks on the United States and other western countries; and C) An Iraqi ex-patriate who fled Iraq under Saddam to go to (guess where), IRAN.
Before the war, one of the worst scenarios articulated was the removal of Saddam Hussein in favor of an Islamic fundamentalist with ties to Iran. This man is, of course, downplaying his religion, and his connections to Iran, but his history is undisputed. He also denies that he, personally, had anything to do with the terrorist attacks against the U.S.
An Islamic regime, with ties to Iran, is not the bill of goods we were sold. Of course, that bill of goods never materialzed anyway, come to think of it (the fabled WMD).
