Jocks expecting to resolve issues by thuggery and being beaten by superior intellect-and a good kicking[:D]
Couldn't resist the nasty postscript, could you? So much for the subtle olive branch. I guess subtlety isn't your thing.
And for 'thuggery', two words: football supporters.
This will be meaningless to most readers, so I should explain that England has a notorious reputation for exporting neanderthal, violent racists masquerading as sports fans to the continent; the Scottish are welcomed. Wonder why?
There is plenty wrong with Scotland, the larger cities have social deprivation problems and other poverty issues, but this pales into insignificance in comparison with the trashed landscapes in the south of England, the most densely populated area in Europe. Scotland by comparison has many areas with a genuine sense of community and a very beautiful environment. We get many tourists from England, even visiting the cities (Edinburgh, Glasgow).
Having spent fifteen years in England, I can honestly say I've never met so many people who so clearly delight in hating each other - class, race, money, even regional accent - they'll find a way to label you as inferior and despise you for it. Not so in Scotland. And as for Johnny Foreigner, xenophobia sells national newspapers by the million. That's by no means all the English (that's the difference between racism and criticism, deathrattle, you don't quite get it, do you?), it gets worse the further south you go, but on the whole they are living horrible little lives and don't even know it. The joke's on them.
