Get over it, guys.
You got dumped, so what?
They changed the rules, so what?
It's their playpen and they get to make the rules and decide who gets to play.
Over here nobody picks-up and all the toys get nasty. But we can play with just about no rules at all. It's a trade-off. I still like the proposal of putting Howitzer in as a Mod. It would be one zany world, wouldn't it? Same with if KV took over. All of us have different ways we'd behave as God and each of us would create different worlds.
My world would have a "SMITE" button, which when invoked by the Mod would render a member silent for 24 hrs. I would use it whenever I thought some nitwit needs to shut up. Don't F**K with Mod.
I personally could care less about the politcal views of a moderator if he just did his job. If you want to see a well moderated forum in action, try out Internet Infidels - probably the best on the net. They even offer different levels of moderation, with some forums to the point where posts have to be submitted to the mod before it can be posted. On the typical moderated forums they've got it right - the secret is to give a warning when things first get out of hand. Generally the hotheads cool off and those who need to be banned don't. MBS, in both the first and second go rounds on this, simply did not have that kind of moderation. The end result was pretty predictable.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
