Hey that's nothing, we got the word today that Bush is upping the quota for legal immigrants another 70,000. Kiss another 70,000 native American technology jobs goodbye. This whole H1-B visa thing is a rip off and a scam designed to bring in cheap tech workers on a so-called "emergency" basis. Some emergency - tech workers are out of work all over the place. Screw the veteran, screw the middle class worker who has to compete with the H1-Bs, screw the lower class workers who have to compete with Mexicans - anything for a profit, the hell with people and their families.
I don't have any problem with immigrants at keyboards, the thread is about veterans.

Well, pal, have fun having your own ox gored, you voted for the asshole. Looks like gonna miss out on your own "welfare handouts". Personally, I think a guy who owns a Ferrari ought to pay for his own medical care and leave the welfare to the real poor people.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

Kirk, this is scary!! Once again we agree on something. G.W. keeps letting immigrants in by the busload. Meanwhile, two highly qualified techies who can't find jobs in the computer field, sell concert tickets for me, while another is serving as Joe Cocker's gofor during his current U.S. tour.

What a great use of our worker's abilities.

I don't think the mistreatment of Vets (or any Americans) should be viewed in a petty partisan prism. This is despicable behavior, no matter which of the two corrupt parties is pulling the strings. These folks, like all civil servants, sacrificed on behalf of the greater community, therefore they should be treated with respect and proper accomodation, especially since they were promised said treatment when they signed up. I generally consider the military as a concept to be a contemptable waste of taxpayer funds, but I damn well expect the government to treat frontline grunts well and to hold up their end of the recruitment bargain.

While they're at it, they should crackdown on the growing payday loan shark industry that preys upon the underpaid soldiers and sailors--vile swine.

I must say that I have very good VA care which I was forced into because being self employed I could no longer find a good health insurance plan that would cover my service connected disability. Before VA care I was pumping over 25K a year out of pocket in additional premiums, uncovered MRI studies and pain managment not to mention lost income due to being in extreme pain.

Last month I went to the VA for my bi-monthly meeting and noticed a sign on the window "We are no longer accepting new patients due to budget cuts". The office I go to is a part of a very well known top of the line provider set up for Vet's like myself. The program funded in part by the university and the other uncle sam. The care is first class, better than most private care facilities I've been to.

It's gut wrenching to talk with other vet's in the waiting room that have to drive over 100 miles to appoinments because the funding was cut.

Vet's and Vet supporters need to come to the plate and straighten this shit out. It worked for the soldier who wanted Humvee armor why can't it work for this?
It sounds like the neocons are doing what they are supposed to do, running the government like a cruel heartless business. Isn't that what the repubs wanted? Sounds like a company that layed people off, then fighting to make sure those people don't get their unemployment benefits. Kind of similar huh?

It's funny how people like you (don't know if you personally) were brainwashed with the Bush hype, then when people like you get hurt by Bushies, they run crying to start some internet petition.

FOUR MORE YEARS. Half this country made the bed that we all have to lie in.

Yeah, and I have to agree with the Ferrari comment. If you can't afford your healthcare, why don't you sell off some of that land, or a Ferrari or an Avalanche or a Toyota or a four wheeler or something. Anyone with as many toys as you've got better talk to the hand cuz the face ain't listening.

PS I know of a pain management clinic where you can get 90 lortabs, 90 xanax, a bottle of codeine cough syrup, and 90 somas for about $150.00 a month. You might have to sit with a bunch of black people in a waiting room for more than an hour, that may be a dealbreaker for you I don't know. Bring a gun.

RE: OK Now I'm pissed.

this is why I say I held my nose and voted Bush. I hate that I had ne reliable viable alternative. I am disgusted with the Govt.'s over all treatment of the war veterans. They were promised the moon. They deserve the sun. They're getting comparatively nothing for thier sacrifices and service. We all are where we are because of veterans. And now that they are aging and thier military usefulness depleated, they are tossed aside like an empty container. Absolutely disgusting.

Here's my position, if the dems. want, they can walk away with a dynasty. They need only crucify the reps on this disgusting behavior and secure our boarders. They will be unbeatable from that platform.

What's wrong with republicans? They cannot shake the "heartless" label. This is a perfect example of that. I only wish the dems could put up a trustworthy palatable candidate a la John F Kennedy.

I am as coservative as they come. this treatment of the vets is NOT conservatism. It is cover your A time. They are scrambling for money. Hold on to your wallets boys/girls

I know you know it's not just soldiers and sailors that are victimized by these types of free enterprises.

You shouldn't hold your nose to vote for anyone. If you can't have good faith and confidence in the candidate, for god's sake don't vote for him. Hell, that's EASIER than voting while holding your nose.[:)]

Howitzer, my IL legislaters are worthless, so contacting them to complain would be an exercise in futility.. If this really comes to light in the popular media, maybe the administrationn could be shamed into correcting their ways

Don't know if the Ferrari comments were meant for me, but I'm not a Vet. Wish I was. They wouldn't take me. Wouldn't pass the physical.
