Bot, you have been much more accomplished as an irritant in the past. I'd say your fourth or fifth time posting the same link makes you boring. Jim
The old man is definitely off his game. He used to be an irritant with a modicum of style. Now, he's just an irritant, albeit of a lower order.

I think what appeals to me the most is that I know it will irritate the shit out of some people. People who make emotional appeals on their side of the issue are probably especially susceptible to emotionality.

Though I am unswayed by sentimental arguments, do I like the sentimentality of it. I like that it celebrates feeling good and proud of our military, a feeling in my own case for which I will never apologize.

What is it exactly that you don't like about it?

Do you think it is wrong for people to see our soldiers through a sentimental eye?

Should we not see pictures of our soldiers in warm relations with ordinary Iraqis?

Is it all a lie? How do you know what the lie is?

B
You deny your own emotions. The reason you have a psychological need to see our soldiers making happy with the Iraqis is to assuage your guilt over the tens of thousands of innocent women and children they killed.
Wow, from Houston you can see all that and I didn't even have to lie down on a couch and recount my depressing childhood.

Bot,

Did I oversimplify your statements about WMD and the lying by the Bush administration and GW himself on the subject being meaningless because you thought the oil grab was worth it? If you don't mean that try reading some of your past posts. Sure sounded like that, clothed, of course, in some dripping all Amerikan apple pie ooze about freedom here and there.

Jim
Read what you wrote and imagine how I would have written it. The difference between the two is the degree to which I think you are unwilling to engage in rational argument.

Now look for where I have have characterized your (specifically from you) argument.

Just go back and read your past posts on the "Shop", I think you'll see what Jim's referring to here. The liberty-and-elections-give-me-goosebumps stuff is an interesting after-the-fact fig leaf, but according to you, this is all about oil, plain and simple. If those poor fools get to vote for their pre-selected slate, then that's just red meat for the punditocracy to bloviate about your favorite cowboy.
