That Guy - 1/31/2005 12:57 PM

Democrats know whats best for working people and that is to support the poor regardless of merit. They know that its best for the government to provide for people rather than themselves. They know that maintaining an unequal racial playing field is in all our best interests. They know that everyone's a victim and that regulation is the way to prevent it.
sorry, you are correct

Misguided policy sugar coated with personal bias.

Guy -

I agree with your assesment.

Like most Americans my politics are an amalgam of many different philosophies. Much of my views can be considered ‘libertarian’ although I am not one.

Back during the Reagan 80s many would refer to themselves as ‘fiscal conservatives/social liberals.’ I would infer from that description that such people liked the idea of small government, low/no taxes, and local governments making more decisions but were not comfortable with the religious and social right in that they would try to dictate moral, not political, policy.

I also remember Jean Kirkpatrick circa 1987 lamenting all that was not accomplished during the Reagan years; it was mostly the social agenda that was not realized and I was fine with that.
