Given the heated debate that ensued in the other thread that concerns smoking, and the fact that an ex-smoker in that thread suggests that tobacco products be outlawed, I feel comelled to ask the question. Yes or no, and if yes, when?
RE: Should tobacco products be outlawed in the U.S.?
somehow there are three of these polls and the one i answered first just got the title deleted. I always try to err on the side of freedom and responsibility. Let those who choose to smoke, do so with full knowlege that it is risky behavior and that when thier health fails as a result of it, they and they alone are responsible for the cost involve with keeping them alive. No generally elevated health ins. costs and no public assistance to pay those med. bills or to subsidize other things so the med bills can also be paid.
i also do not believe it's fair to impose on others who do not wish to, or have no choice and power to not participate in that behavior i.e. second hand smoke.

OK this might be a little different but, unless we legalize every drug, smack crack, meth, all of them: unless we are willing to adopt a policy that everyone is responsible ffor what they put in their bodies and that the gov has no right what so ever to regulate it, then tobacco is the number one drug that should be outlawed.
And I smoke a pack a day.

All drugs should be legal. It's none of your business if I want to spend my spare time hammering nails into my forehead, or drinking bleach, or taking 'drugs'. Why should you want to control my behaviour when it doesn't harm you?

Today happens to be the 86th anniversary of the beginning of Prohibition, which marks the rise of organized crime in the U.S. This is not an unimportant consideration here, is it?
