RE: Looks like the nutcases have arrived
I am not building walls - the original assertion made by Howitzer (who was the one I was referring to in the database programmer remark) was that one could get around an IP ban by spoofing an IP. I then stated that this is impossible, since sending a false IP means one will not get a page back. He also asserts it is something anyone can do. It's not the first time this assertion has been made, and I challenged it this time because I was part of a detailed discussion on the subject in an academic setting just a few weeks back. I'm still challenging it. Feel free to respond - your assertions on me being against other ideas would ring a little more truly if you actually posted one. I see no theories or facts in your posts to refute my assertions, and in truth I am eager to discuss the topic. Instead I get a black box from you and insults from the other guy, while I have posted three links to support my assertion. If you want a debate, then fro chrissakes, debate. This is an anonymous forum and for all I know, your credentials are in your head. If you want to approach this scientifically, then lets do so.
Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.
