Campaign Promises Body Count

Was I just hallucinating as usual, or did "Mr. Mandate" state on national TV this week that he wasn't going to be pushing for a constitutional amendment banning homosexual marriage?

President George W. Bush will not press for a constitutional amendment to ban marriage for same-sex couples, he told the Washington Post in an interview published Jan. 16. But even before the article was published the White House was seeking to "clarify" its position.

"Senators have made it clear that so long as DOMA (the Defense of Marriage Act) is deemed constitutional, nothing will happen. I'd take their admonition seriously," Bush told the Post. "Until that changes, nothing will happen in the Senate."

White House spokesman Scott McClellan clarified the President's position as being "willing to spend political capital" on the issue, but that for practical reasons it is not likely to be enough to achieve the two-thirds vote required to pass a constitutional amendment.

It must be true then. Bush is dating Cheney's daughter...

Well, I've done my part. Several years ago, my family took over a company of 300+ employees. The workers had health benefits for their significant others. Of the 40 or so individuals who took advantage of this ridiculous benefit, 95% of the significant others would be considered as uninsurable by most definitions. Coincidence, I think not.

Fortunately, I was chosen to take the helm. Within a year's time, I sent the best workers to other entities that we controlled, sold the hard goods and machinery for a sizable sum, closed the doors and jettisoned the 40 odd to a black hole along with their significant others!

Oh yeah, got a hefty tax charge off to boot.

Gay marriage is not only a religious and moral mockery, but will has terrible business/benefit implications.

Most religons and moral edicts tend to be made mockerys sooner or later by changes in the culture, but pray tell, how are heterosexual marriages a business/benefit from an implication point of view?
