RE: Olympic National Park

The same thing happens here from the crank.

Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint.

-President Barack Obama, 1st Inaugural address

One of my kids has become enthralled with this park after doing a report on it for school, and now we are talking about taking a trip up there this summer. He showed me a map of the place, and I was absolutely stunned at the size of the park, it looks like it takes up over 30% of the entire state of Washington. If anyone on the board is familiar with the park, what would one concentrate on in a seven day vaction? What is the best time of year to visit it, and what major city has the most convenient airport to the place? Any other tidbits appreciated. I must confess my ignorance, I had never even heard of the place until my kid told me about it.
Bring rain gear and lots of dry clothes. It's a temperate rain forest.

It is beautiful and surprisingly few people go there because, well, it rains alot you see.

All I remember about the place is hurricane ridge. Seatac is the closest airport, if you go during the summer it probably won't rain the entire time your there, there are a bunch of camp grounds, imo you should check out vancouver island! Actually all of western Washington is an outdoors-mans dream come true. Tacoma sucks thou. I also remember some kind of drive thru animal zoo...
