AMG SpeedShift

I was reading the description and I saw this.....

"features torque converter lockup in all forward gears."

What does this exactly means.....?

RE: AMG SpeedShift

Unlike a manual trans with a clutch, an auto trans use a fluid torque converter to handle the engine's output and allows the shifting of gears while under full power. A locking torque converter provides a mechanical/physical, not fluid, connection in the drivetrain once a certain speed or operating condition is reached. This reduces slippage in the converter and results in a lower operating temperature and increase fuel economy.
