RE: Coulter headlamps and shoots some baited pond ducks
I think a lot of the problem is the average definition of the word "theory" is not the same as the scientific use of the word. Evolution is an assumption that certain long term processes have been at work that cannot not be directly observed. What can be directly observed, however, has been consistent with the theory of evolution since 1840. God has not been observed setting up a Garden of Eden on Mars, nor has any evidence that he pulled one off here ever appeared. On the other hand, I can go down to the Museum of Natural Science in Houston, and observe the fact that the hip bone design of a 50 million year old Velociraptor is exactly the same as that of an American Bald Eagle born a few years ago, and that they only differ in size.
Also, Big Bang is probably the most consistent theory ever derived. Again, it is not a theory in the conventional sense, it is a deduction made because everything we observe points to it. All objects in the universe are moving away from a central point at an astounding rate of speed. Cosmic radiation of all types all point to a single cataclysmic event. There simply is no alternative in the world of "Intelligent Design" that has that kind of predictability.
