RE: HA HA BUSH WINS OWNED!
We've been wondering for several months which direction the winner would take the nation. The voters have made their choice. Millions of people turned-out. The election was free and fair. The count seems accurate. Folks voted for status quo in a large, but not tremendous margin. Now we know what the people think. But what will Dubbie do?
Well, we're all going to find out.
I think he's going to continue the trajectories toward democratization in Afghanistan and Iraq. I expect there will be some sharp, violent battles in Iraq to destroy the minor military effectiveness of the various insurgencies, which are politically and ideologically fractious--united by convenience against the coalition. In a year or so I'll bet the troops will begin withdrawal from both theatres as the local armies and police forces gain effectiveness. The liberals will weep daily over each loss and will decry each advance. Their vocabulary will shrink to one word, "quagmire". That one word will be used for any and all situations. The libertarians will sit chained in a dark corner growling and gnashing their teeth in impotent frustration.
On the national scene, I think he's going to enlarge the welfare state through medical subsidization. The liberals will decry it as insufficient and will continue to fight for even more. The conservatives will whine about not geting the love they deserve onthis issue and libertarians will sit chained in a dark corner growling and gnashing their teeth in impotent frustration.
He's also going to take a run at SSI. Its going to be less sweeping than what I want (a sharpened stake of oak, driven through its undead heart). But the liberals will shriek like a bunch of pajama party preteens watching a horror flick in the den. The libertarians will sit chained in a dark corner growling and gnashing their teeth in impotent frustration.
In other words, same-old, same-old.
